Mission: unpracticed hands turning imperfect wood into unique works of art
Engle Wood Works is a work in progress with the vision of disciplining young men and women from the streets of Englewood while teaching them skills that will lead to future employability.
We are currently raising funds as we look for the right person to hire to run this.
Our initial EWW Club is slated to begin January 2020. This will be a program run Monday through Friday from 5 until 7 in the evening. We will walk young people through five different aspects of education preparation and employability. The goal will be that those who receive a certificate of completion will be more employable and better equipped to study and work. With this program we plan to impact every area of the individual's life.
STRENGTH: Mondays will focus on hard skills (woodworking, painting, cooking, etc.).
MIND: Tuesdays will introduce soft skills (computer skills, financial planning, work ethic, etc.).
HEART: Wednesdays will focus on health and well-being (nutrition, hygiene, rest, etc.).
SOUL: Thursdays will focus on music and arts (music theory, drawing/painting techniques, lessons, etc.).
NEIGHBOR: Fridays will be service/fun days (garbage clean up, lawn care, boardgames, etc.).
"And he answered, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.'" (Luke 10.27)
